In Israel, the law says the every house as to have a safe room, but not long ago, as only wealthy people had safe room inside their homes, and we had a shelter inside my building for everyone to be safe from bombing that can be happening. Between 5th to 6th grade I was hiding in one. In the Second Lebanon War, we were there almost 24/7 for two months.
But the most interesting idea about this space, is what purpose it had in my life - as most of the time it is empty and used for other occasions then war - such as celebrating birthday, just hanging with friends, or even having my first kiss.
